Studio Night With Doug Chinnery & James Davies - Words by Lesley.

We had a fantastic evening last Monday night (23rd) with Doug Chinnery and James Davies.

Doug Chinnery returned to the Society for the latest practical session of the season recently. He brought with him James Davies, an experienced wedding photographer, who is more used to teaching skills to five or six professional photographers than a large group such the 45 members present on the night. He was however an excellent communicator and the evening was run with consummate ease by the two of them.

James brought along two very beautiful models, Marci and Kristy, who worked in two different set-ups in the hall so that some of our hall lighting was used in addition to the professional lighting that he had brought along. James worked with small groups with one model, helping them get their cameras set up and photos taken. Doug worked with members with the other model in a continuous lighting set.

After a refreshment break James asked Marci to put on a coat and a set-up was created outside by the walls of the church where we meet. James held the light so that moody shots of Marci could be achieved. The resulting shots were just like the ones seen in magazines. This was something members had not really done before and they loved it.

Everyone was really enthusiastic about the whole evening, which was one of the best practical sessions we have ever had.
